And the Winner is...
The National "got milk?"® Milk Mustache Campaign and Everyday Food magazine congratulate Michelle Anderson of Eagle, Idaho, as the "ultimate" smoothie recipe contest winner! Michelle won $1,000 and her recipe will be featured in the "Today's Specials" section of the October issue of Everyday Food magazine. Michelle's winning essay included that she's, "always on the lookout for ways to add nutritious food to her diet." And, "smoothies made with milk are a terrific way to make sure her family gets the calcium they need."

Follow the directions below to get a taste of her winning Avocado-Mango creation.



Avocado-Mango Smoothie
Michelle Anderson - Eagle, ID
GRAND PRIZE WINNER

Makes 4 servings, 4 ounces of milk per serving.

Ingredients
1
 
medium ripe avocado
1 cup
 
frozen mango chunks
2 cups
 
fat free or lowfat milk
1 (8 ounce) container
 
vanilla bean lowfat yogurt
1 teaspoon
 
chopped fresh mint leaves
2 teaspoons
 
lime juice
1 teaspoon
 
lime zest
1 tablespoon
 
agave syrup
(or substitute with simple syrup)
1 cup (more or less as needed)
 
ice cubes

Directions
Remove flesh from avocado, cut into coarse chunks, place into blender along with mango, milk, yogurt, mint, lime juice and zest, agave syrup and ice cubes. Process until smooth. Pour smoothie into tall glasses and serve.
